Cine G is owned and operated by John Gumina. A working director of photography and lighting designer. In 1997 after acquiring a small amount of equipment while working on Real World and Road Rules for MTV, John rented a 200 square foot storage unit in The Serta Mattress factory building in San Francisco’s Hunters Point area. Cine G was born. At the same time reality television was growing so was Cine G. As John worked on more and more reality shows it became clear that reality programing was not going to be a short lived trend. It was also clear that to be competitive the only place to be was in Los Angeles.
In 2000 John, his wife, and dog loaded up the U-Haul truck and headed south to Los Angeles. The first Cine G shop in Los Angeles was a 500 square foot store front on Silver lake boulevard. John would light and shoot shows during the day and prep rental packages for his customers at night.
Today Cine G offers that same personalized service at scale. Operating out of a 10,000 square foot warehouse Cine G supports customers worldwide. We have grown to compete with some of the largest rental companies in the world while still offering the personalized service of an owner operated company. We have been the go to rental house for reality programing for the past 20 years. We are now capable of handling scripted tv series, commercials, music videos, studio shows and Indy features simultaneously.
